It’s all about concentration says a new study published by the Imperial College London and the Royal College of Music. According to their findings, listening to AC/DC hindered a man’s concentration while listening to Mozart tended to increase focus.
Interestingly enough, women appeared to be unaffected by music.

Researches studied 352 concertgoers at London’s Imperial Festival to play the classic children’s game, Operation. Researchers gave the volunteers headphones that played one of three tracks; “Andante from Sonata for Two Pianos” by Mozart, “Thunderstruck” by AC/DC, or the sound of an operating room. The team measured the time it took participants’ to complete tasks and the number of mistakes they made.
Dr. Daisy Fancourt, lead author of the research from the Center for Performance Science, explained that their goal was to find out how to increase a surgeon’s concentration. “Although this study is clearly tongue-in-cheek, and was all performed in our spare time, it is part of our wider research into the effect of music on performance—particularly in a medical setting such as an operating theatre.”
According to the Dr. Fancourt, nearly 72 percent of all surgeons listen to music when operating.
It’s long been theorized that classical music increases higher brain functionality, but the news rock music like AC/DC may actually scramble a man’s brain, well, wait, what were we talking about?
