Now for a history lesson.

More than twenty years ago, former AC/DC manager Crispin Dye was robbed and killed by unknown assailants. Australian police have now offered $100,000 for information leading to the solving of this long-standing mystery, reports The Sydney Morning Herald.

But why the sudden attention? That is unclear. What we do know is “three young men of Pacific Islander appearance” were said to have  been seen by a witness after someone or someones had beaten Dye to death.

“There are people out there who know those responsible for Mr Dye’s death and we’re hoping this reward may prompt them to get in touch with police,” Detective Superintendent Mick Willing said in a statement. “By all accounts, Crispin Dye was a fun-loving, friendly and decent man, who was robbed of his life far too soon. We are absolutely committed to getting to the bottom of this case and bringing those responsible for an innocent man’s violent death to justice, but we won’t be able to do it without assistance from the public.”

The Sydney Morning Herald also notes that this crime took place during a time where many murders were taking place where the victims were thought by their attackers to be gay. All the evidence in the case, however, still points toward robbery as a motive.

Let’s hope this new effort leads to justice.
