AC/DC Not Retiring

By Amanda Wicks

AC/DC’s drummer Chris Slade has some words for fans worried that their current tour will be the band’s last before co-founder and lead guitarist Angus Young retires the band. “Angus is definitely NOT thinking of retiring,” he wrote online.

After the band replaced Brian Johnson with Axl Rose to finish out their remaining tour dates, many have been speculating that this will be it for the band. One fan posted on Chris Slade’s Facebook page, remarking how the band had been playing rare cuts as if they were giving fans once last go before they called it a day. Slade rebutted, stating directly that they had no plans to stop.

Johnson is seeking medical help for his hearing loss, which caused him to back out of AC/DC’s tour. It’s not clear if he’ll be able to rejoin the band if they go out on tour in the future. Axl, meanwhile, has expressed an interest in helping them down the road. “I’m in if they want me in, and we’ll sort it out, but right now that’s getting ahead of ourselves with everything else that’s on the table,” he said to a radio program.

For now, fear not. AC/DC is here to stay.
