UPDATE: AC/DC has issued a statement on their website confirming that rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young is “taking a break” from the band, citing health issues. “The band will continue to make music,” it revealed.
AC/DC fans can rejoice as the Australian hard rockers are not breaking up, despite countless rumors. Frontman Brian Johnson broke the news today (April 16) to the Daily Telegraph.
“We are definitely getting together in May in Vancouver,” he told the Daily Telegraph. “We’re going to pick up some guitars, have a plonk, and see if anybody has got any tunes or ideas. If anything happens, we’ll record it.”
While rumors have also been circulating of one of the members having health issues, he confirmed that this is true for one member — reportedly rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young, though Johnson didn’t name names.

“I wouldn’t like to say anything either way about the future,” he said. “I’m not ruling anything out. One of the boys has a debilitating illness, but I don’t want to say too much about it. He is very proud and private, a wonderful chap. We’ve been pals for 35 years and I look up to him very much.”
Rumors swirled around the band after the news broke that one of their members was sick; the band reportedly has a pact that if one of them cannot continue with the band, AC/DC would no longer go on as an active band.
The band’s latest lineup includes guitarists/brothers Malcolm and Angus Young, as well as longtime members Cliff Williams (bass), Phil Rudd (drums) and Brian Johnson (vocals).
